Preschool should be an exciting time of discovery and growth for children. At Carousel, the program focuses on language and socialization skills as its primary goals. Each child is given the chance to grow with a feeling of success and competency at his or her own pace. Numerous opportunities for creative expression are available in a variety of classroom centers. Time is planned during each day for guided free play in areas such as art, science, computer, music, literature and number concepts. Individual sharing, snack, songs, stories and outside play are all part of the day. Field trips and special guests are also part of the learning experience.
The 3-4 year old class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The 4-5 year old class meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Each class meets from 9:15am - 12:15pm. The school calendar is set by the Parent Board and follows the Columbia Public Schools calendar. Two parents are present each class session to assist the teacher. Class size is generally 15 students per class.
Carousel's inside space is light, pleasant and well designed to accommodate free play and structured activities. Our fenced outdoor play area has a variety of equipment to enhance gross motor skills.
